Introduction
The Hungarian Direct Marketing Association is a member of the following international organisations:
Direct Marketing Association UK
International Federation of DMAs

Federation of European Direct and Interactive Marketing
In January 1994, certain businesses active in the field of direct marketing felt that it was the right time to establish an association to promote the interests of direct marketing companies.
In less than a year, their decision became reality as the Direct Marketing Association was created in 1995, with 10 member organisations.
The principal goals and tasks set before the Association were as follows:
Concerted communication towards the outside worlds, including the rejection of the concepts and activities of companies which impair the reputation of the profession,
Concerted internal communication between DM businesses
Data protection
Drawing up a Code of Conduct
Drawing up the Association’s Statutes
Establishing links to other associations in Hungary and abroad
Further training
As for the structure of the Association, its principal decision-making body is the General Assembly, which is ordinarily convened twice a year to pass decisions on major issues. A Presidency of 7 members, elected by the General Assembly to manage and supervise issues in between assembly meetings, meets on a regular basis, while daily tasks are performed by the Secretariat.
We have a very diverse membership. Some are active in manufacturing, some in the field of organising DM operations, while others are engaged in telemarketing. Quite a few are important media businesses or work in e-business.
Any natural person of Hungarian citizenship and any legal entity or other organisation without legal personality may become a member of the Association, provided that their activities are related to direct marketing and that they agree to comply with the provisions of the Statutes and meet the obligations set forth in the Entry Declaration.
